Rotary Radio Night

This year’s Rotary Radio Night will be April 6. This is the night before local elections. Dee is heading up our big scholarship fund raiser again this year. Anyone who is on that committee needs to contact Dee and give him a hand. And if you are not on that committee , you can still give a hand. Also, will need Rotarians to help with 30 minute shifts to read advertisements. We always have Senior Rotarians , who help out, which is a lot of fun. Be sure to help think of businesses or politicians who we can get to donate to this worthwhile cause. More info as we get closer. And we are getting closer.

Please help Dee out anyway you can!

Weekly Observations

Last Friday and Saturday Brenda and I attended the Mid-America P.E.T.S. We are so lucky to such a incredible group of Rotarians in leadership roles within our District. We have some great challenges and opportunity to do good locally and around the world. It always amazes me the capacity that some individuals have in the pursuit of excellence. Rotary is getting more and more recognition in the business world as a group that gets things done in an orderly and accountable fashion. We will have some lofty goals with PolioPlus so we can take advantage of the generous gift from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. And new member recruitment has to be a top priority. More later.

PROGRAM

Rotarian of the Day: Doug Whitworth

Doug Whitworth was born in Joplin, Missouri which caused him to have an instinctive lack of trust in people. Doug still to this day finds himself all too often saying “show me”. After a trying 3 days, Doug moved to Miami Oklahoma where he changed the world in mostly undocumented fashion until leaving the nest to attend Oklahoma State University. After OSU, Doug spent time working for Haliburton Services in Duncan, then Lowrance Electronics in Tulsa changing the world (again, mostly undocumented). Doug is married to Jodee (wether she likes it or not) and together they own and operate ACE Town & Country in Vinita (well, actually the bank owns most of it) which they opened for business in 1988. Doug and Jodee have three wonderful children, Dakota, Deonna, and Dejay. All three of Doug’s children have unanimously grown weary of hearing their dad say “show me”.

Today’s Program

Coach Scott Reed with his coaches and the entire Vinita High School Lady Hornets will be our program and guests of honor. They will be recounting those three incredible games that resulted in being crowned STATE CHAMPIONS!!

Quote of the Day

“In our lives we all have memorable, landmark days. The day we graduate from college, get married and have our first child. I will dare say that for 16 girls here today that being crowned State Champions will always remain a top 10 day. Congratulations girls and coaches, too!!”
