Holly is attending Roger State University and just returned from an overseas visit to Europe, including England and France. Holly presented a slide presentation of her visit including photos of many magnificient historical and religous landmarks. Holly's plans for the coming year include a six month educational rotation in Wales at Swansea University. Major Rooney F-16 Pilot ANG and PGA Golf Pro described his tour of duty flying combat mission in Iraq and how this experience inspired him to do something for the wives and children of servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice.  The result was the founding of The Folds of Honor Foundation and Patriot Golf Club. A scholarship program is an integral part of the mission at The Patriot. Through this initiative, The Patriot will contribute and create a $2,500 scholarship in the name of each Patriot member at the time of initiation. The member will be paired with a military family and have the option to continue the support of that family in subsequent years. Working together, The Patriot and its members will change lives and have a tremendous impact on our nation's most deserving families. The goal is to create a one million dollar annual gift to The Folds of Honor Foundation.

Rachel Showler Coordinator Mental Health Courts Grand Lake Mental Health Center        Vinita Rotarian Joe Gardner introduced Rachel Showler as Guest Speaker at the Rotary Luncheon on September 21, 2011. Rachel described how Craig County Mental Health participates in Oklahoma's network of drug and mental health court programs which serves to divert non-violent, eligible offenders from prison to structured, court-supervised substance abuse and mental health treatment. A smart investment, Oklahoma's drug and mental health courts are saving money and saving lives. Putting people with mental illness or addiction behind bars is not effective in either reducing crime or helping these individuals recover from their illness. The fact is that treatment works. Pastor Marty Dyer Newsong Church Green Forrest School & Orphanage Visits Vinita Rotary!        Vinita Rotarian Ed DeLozier welcomed Marty Dyer, Pastor of Newsong Church, Grove, Oklahoma which is proceeding to establish the Green Forrest School & Orphanage in Mufulla, Zambia, South Africa. Pastor Dyer described the inadequate food supply and lack of health & medical services in South Africa which results in an average life expectancy of 39 years of age. Mufulla has a population of 400,000 citizens with more than 10 percent - 40,000 of the children orphaned and without parents or a home. Newsong Church is reaching out and addressing this unfortunate/deplorable situation.

2011 Rotary Scholarship Awards Vinita High School Seniors!     Vinita Rotary President Rod Couch presented scholarships at the VHS Senior Awards Program on May 16, 2011 at the Ewing Halsell Middle School Auditorium. Jarred Walker was awarded a $1,000 renewable scholarship. Brittany Wadley, Drew Allensworth and Heath Hawkins each received a one-time $500 scholarship. Also receiving a $500 scholarship, but not pictured, was graduating senior Taylor Holland. Rick Collins Founder & President Press On Missions!       Rotarian of the Day Hi Camp welcomed Rick Collins, Founder and President of Press On Missions. After more than 20 years as a Youth Pastor, Mr Collins felt a calling to reach out to youth in Cuba and other Latin American countries. He discussed methodologies, fund raising, recounted multiple successes and mission plans for the future.	Matthew H. Ms Collins described the support provided to citizens of Craig County and the annual walk to raise funds to support CCOCA scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2011. Rotary Radio Night Raises Record $5,500 for Vinita High School College Scholarships!        Vinia Rotarians Danny Langford and Charlie Enyard took their turn as deejays on Monday Night, April 4, 2011, during the annual Rotary Radio Night sponsored by KITO Radio. Coordinator Rotarian Dee Robison reported the fund raiser brought in a record-breaking $5,500 for Rotary sponsored college scholarships.

Chuck Hoskin, Jr. Cherokee Nation Health Clinic visits the Rotary Club of Vinita       Rotarian of the Day Chris Barlass welcomed Chuck Hoskin, Jr to the Rotary Luncheon on 3/23/2011. Attorney Hoskin representing the Cherokee Nation Health Clinic under construction in Vinita reported that the full service clinic has an anticipated opening in the fall of 2012. The clinic will provide comprehensive services to all native American Indians seeking care at the clinic. Approximately 100 professionals will be employed.

Vinita Rotary Annual 4-Way Speech Contest at Vinita High School     Photo by Angela Martin These Vinita High School students participated in the annual Rotary 4-Way Speech Contest on Friday, sponsored by the Vinita Rotary Club. Participants included, front, from left, Katie Mixson, Rebekah Day, Taylor Holland, back row, Heath Hawkins, Drew Allensworth, and Trever Carreon. Day was the winner of the contest and recipient of $100. Allensworth was the second place winner and recipient of $75. Hawkins was the third place winner and recipient of $50. Day's speech will be submitted to the Rotary District level competition and if selected, will have a chance to compete for a college scholarship.	Dr Stephanie Meissen Assistant Director Emergency Services Craig General Hospital        Rotarian of the Day Rex Walk, Chief Executive Officer of Craig General Hospial choose Dr Stephanie Meissen, Assistant Director of Emergency Services as visiting speaker of the day. Dr Meissen, a member of Vinita Rotary, presented a summary of emergency services at Craig General along with triage, security and patient satisfaction with those services.

Jack Luginbuel Rotarian & President Luginbuel Funeral Homes shares with Vinita Rotary Club     Rotarian of the Day Bud Ronsee introduced fellow Rotarian Jack Luginbuel, President of Luginbuel Funeral Homes who explained the burial and grieving process and encouraged associates to plan ahead and prepare for the death of loved ones and family members. Jack concluded his presentation with information on the Ten Freedoms for Creating Meaningful Funeral Ceremonies.
